If Billy Sunday, D. L. Moody, or Charles Finney came to your town, what would they attempt and accomplish for God? What is revival anyways? Have you ever seen a genuine revival change a church or community? Would you like to? What price are you willing to pay to see God produce a revival in your church?
How many church services and sermons were preached in your county last week, last month and last year? How many sermons did people hear in the last 20 years...and what has happened to the morality next door to you? Lets face reality - something or someone needs to change.
Truth be told, we will never see a God sent revival without experiencing a Heaven sent vision of what God wants to do in our generation, in our city. An eagle can spot a 3" fish jumping out of the water 5 miles away. God needs someone (you) who will get a vision to see more than the rest of us and lead us into places we have never been with God before.
Revival can never come if we do not give ourselves to it body, soul, and spirit, night and day, for months to come. Will it be worth the price?
The First Great Awakening (1730-1755) reached around the world, and shaped America.
The Second Great Awakening (primarily the 1820's-1830's) reached millions, and reshaped America.
The Prayer Meeting Revival (1857-1858) touched all America and reached 2 million.
D. L. Moody (1860-1899) reached 100 million people. He influenced F.B.Meyer who influenced J. Wilbur Chapman who influenced Billy Sunday who influenced Mordacai Ham who influenced Billy Graham who influenced….
The Welsh Revival (1904-1905) which greatly influenced America reached 100,000 for Christ.
The Billy Sunday Revivals (primarily the 1920's) reached 100 million people.
Have you heard preachers or Christians say there is no formula for revival today? On the contrary, II Chronicles 7:14 is still in The Book. Following this promise from God brought rivival to Ninevah, Hezekiah, Pentecost and other places in God's Word. There have been many revivals during the 20th century in other nations that have reached millions. Isn't it time God sent a revival to your city? Are you willing to pay the price it will require? These are some of the things the revivalists did in the past we need to replicate.
1. Establish a personal prayer season 3 times a day (Ps. 55:17).
2. Meet God early every morning confessing personal sin, sin in your church and city, and ask God how you can help stop the flood gates. Also be begging God each day for Holy Spirit Power in your life to accomplish His will.
3. Conduct a prayer meeting every day around noon in your town somewhere where people can gather.
4. Periodically, hold an all night prayer meeting, inviting everyone who will come.
5. Establish as many weekly home prayer meetings in your town as possible (see the tracts on prayer). These are a must before revival meetings in your church.
6. Practice fasting!! How essential! Fast often, say one day a week, three consecutive days in the month, etc.
7. Study the lives of Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, Charles Finney, D. L. Moody, and Billy Sunday, all who influenced America and learn to conduct your personal life just like them.
